Experiments about our teeth

We did an experiment called ‘Which liquid will do the most damage to eggshells?’

We had five hard boiled eggs and five different liquids which were: cola, vinegar, milk, water and orange juice. We put the eggs in first and measured 500ml of each liquid and left them to soak for a week. We also made sure it was a fair test by using the same sized containers, same sized eggs, same amount of liquid and they were put to soak in the same place.

We expected the cola to do damage to the eggshells because of the sugar, but some of the results really surprised us. We ranked them from best (1) to worst (5).

We discovered that egg shells are very similar to the enamel on our teeth, this is the hardest substance in our whole body.

Here are the results.

We also cut out teeth and stuck them into a mouth to learn where each type of tooth belongs. We have molars, premolars, incisors, canines and wisdom teeth.
